Keeping our neighbors at home.
Help us close the door on homelessness in the greater Richmond region.
Housing is connected to every aspect of our lives: Employment, Family, Education, Transportation, Physical and Mental Health, and more. At ACTS, we partner with a number of Richmond area organizations to prevent homelessness — keeping kids in school, keeping workers in jobs, and creating a healthier and more equitable community for everyone.
Emergency Financial Assistance
Together with referring partners, ACTS serves the Greater Richmond community. ACTS provides homelessness prevention services, from budgeting to financial assistance. Our referrals are a closed system and require a working through one of our more than 60 regional partners.
Homeless Connection Line (HCL)
In collaboration with four partners, we serve those experiencing homelessness or within a few days of losing their current housing. Diversion specialists assist households within three days of losing housing to problem-solve, access resources, and connect to homeless assistance if needed.
Impossible work without partnerships.
ACTS was founded by Richmond’s faith congregations as an answer to the question: “What do we do when someone, a step away from homelessness, knocks on our door?” Together, the communities pooled resources and established one agency — Area Congregations Together in Service — to prevent and divert homelessness. Today, we’re supported by more than 60 interfaith partners, companies, and non-profits.
Serving the Greater Richmond Area since 2006.
ACTS serves the City of Richmond and the counties of Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield, Goochland, Powhatan, Charles City, and New Kent. Our services have, unfortunately, only grown in demand with no end in sight: in Central Virginia, eviction filings are well above pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
How we help.
Last year, ACTS assisted more than $1 million in financial assistance to hundreds of individuals and families in the greater Richmond area. The chart offers a breakdown of where our funds were deployed in fiscal year 2023. For more details, see our latest impact report.
ACTS is also a City of Richmond MetroCare water assistance partner.
